Brian Kelly is the founder ThePointsGuy.com, a trusted source in both travel and luxury. Inspired by the idea of maximizing travel experiences while minimizing spending, Kelly noticed a gap in this emerging market while constantly on the road – spending over 6 months a year as a business traveler on Wall Street. In 2010, Kelly founded his site and it quickly became a leader in an ever-growing field of points related travel sites.

Kelly’s roots in points maximizing date back to childhood, when he discovered a knack for using his father’s airline miles to send his family on luxurious trips to the Caribbean for a fraction of the cost. His youthful curiosity for travel continued as he began working on Wall Street as a tech recruiter, spending the bulk of his time on the road. It was during this time that Kelly racked up enough points for incredible global adventures, even though his salary remained stagnant while working in Wall Street during the Great Recession.

One year after his first post, his blog gained global attention and respect that he left his banking job to pursue blogging as a full time career, hitting 1 million unique monthly visitors by 2014. The mission of ThePointsGuy.com is simple: provide readers with the tools they need to see and experience the world at a fraction of the cost by being smart about their finances.

Today, The Points Guy has over 2 million monthly unique visitors and employs 20+ experienced travel editors and writers who conceive unique editorial content that is further documented across the brand’s growing social media platforms. In addition to overseeing all aspects of The Points Guy empire, Kelly has been featured in over 100 publications and news outlets including The New York Times, Condé Nast Traveler, The Los Angeles Times, The Independent, CNN, and The Today Show.

Kelly has presented at various travel conferences including the LA Times and New York Times Travel Shows and the annual Chicago Frequent Flyer Seminars. He is also a weekly contributor to Travel + Leisure, where he documents his explorations in applicable ways to the reader.

In 2016, the brand will expand to include The Points Guy TV, a new extension under TPG umbrella, where original video content will be brought to life through Kelly’s curated lens. In addition to TPG TV, Kelly is currently developing both weekly podcasts as well as a book that highlights his travel tips, tools, and advice.
